When BET99 reached out to SenovvA to produce a 30-sec commercial starring Georges St-Pierre, promoting responsible gaming, we were excited to bring their creative director’s vision to life.

A commercial such as this has to meet a number of standards in order for it to be approved for broadcast. Working with their creative team, we helped conceptualize how to use GSP’s star-power to deliver this important message, while adhering to these regulations.

We had a ton of ideas on what this 30-second commercial should look like. To narrow in on how best to utilize our time, space, and actors, we filmed various versions in our studio, prior to the shoot. Using our SenovvA crew as stand-ins, we were able to time out our shots before finalizing our storyboard.

We scouted the perfect location to film this commercial, which also led to the restaurant’s chef offering to take part (you can see her looking shocked as GSP’s phone flies past her kitchen). We also brought on a props master, special FX team, and food stylists to make sure every detail was thoughtfully executed.

On the day of the shoot, Georges St-Pierre set the tone for the good vibes on set—performing his own stunts and being game for anything that was thrown at him…or, in some cases, by him (he was quite the fan of the screensaver that was made for him on the phone he throws against the wall). Working with him previously, we knew he was great at thinking on his feet, so we left room in our schedule for improvised takes. This gave us lots of material to play around with for the final edit.
