OVERVIEW

Since 1985, Unionville High School has been the secondary school of choice for advanced arts in York region. As part of the school’s push towards appealing to potential students online, the Arts Unionville program reached out to us to produce a commercial that highlights their visual arts, music, dance, and drama specializations.

CHALLENGE

Our aim with this film is to inspire prospective students with artistic promise in dance, drama, music, and visual arts to consider Unionville High School as their school of choice.

SOLUTION

We follow a student from each discipline as they work to realize a large multidisciplinary performance. Students come to the school possessing raw talent and a passion for their craft, but it is at Unionville High School where this talent is fostered and shaped into greatness. We had to transcend the usual approach of selling the features and benefit of the school and instead connect audiences with a feeling. In each frame, the air is thick with a sense of the raw and kinetic devotion to their craft and a venerable sense that these students are poised for greatness. Every element of the film from the voice-over right down to the lighting, was designed to convey this visceral and palpable raw passion that these students possess as it is shaped into greatness.
